Lisa & Rebekka of Earthen Studio

These ladies embody exactly what I love about this city. They are both brilliantly talented and are running their own creative businesses. They just moved in to a dreamy new workspace here in Nashville, Earthen Studio, that they share with several other talented ladies. Rebekka turns out the most luscious handspun, naturally dyed yarn, of which I have several baskets full all around my apartment. She is also a wonderful illustrator, and a seriously good time at parties. Lisa is an incredible singer, fiber artist, and designer of some of my absolute favorite furniture. TALENT ALL AROUND. I'm so honored to call these women friends of mine, and to see them living and working in Elizabeth Suzann is a real treat. They each have such distinct style, and the contrast of the two of them together is working for me. Thank you so much, ladies - I can't wait to see Earthen grow and evolve over the coming months!

Lisa Garcia

CITY: Nashville... For now.

OCCUPATION: Singer, Designer, Artist

FREE TIME: Adventuring or dreaming of adventuring.

WEEKEND PLANS: Trying my best to stay cozy in bed as long as possible with my love, our pup and a cup of tea. And then, likely some songwriting or art creating, also with my love.

DREAM: To do all of the things I've ever wanted to do.... All of them. The dream most on my mind lately: Sailing around the world with a sailboat I work on and maintain myself, swimming in every crystal clear body of water, drying off under the sun and falling asleep under the stars.

TUNES: I've adopted "Cosmic Dancer" by T.Rex as the soundtrack to my life.

READS: "Just Kids" by Patti Smith, the Artist's Way, and a few books by Huxley. Really anything about the pursuit of art and the expansion of the mind.

EATS: Fresh Washington raspberries, as often as possible.

ES FAVORITES: I think I've been waiting all my life for the Cocoon Coat and the Cecilia Pants. I feel like the woman I've always wanted to be in them.

Rebekka Seale

CITY: Currently - Nashville, Tennessee. Forever - Gulf Shores, Alabama.

OCCUPATION: Owner of Camellia Fiber Company, a Nashville-based line of ethically sourced, minimally processed luxury yarn.

FREE TIME: Yoga, riding my bike, reading, and meeting up with friends for pizza in my neighborhood.

WEEKEND PLANS: We live walking distance to the Nashville Farmer's Market and spend a lot of time there on the weekends. There is always something going on in Nashville. And, if not...there's more bike riding.

DREAM: My husband and I just recently bought a small plot of land on the Gulf coast of Alabama and all our dreams right now revolve around the house we are hoping to build on it!

TUNES: In the studio, Lisa and I listen to a very specific mix of songs from the late 80's and early 90's that includes tunes such as "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal, "Africa" by Toto, and "I Would Walk 500 Miles" by the Proclaimers. It somehow makes perfect sense to us.

READS: I recently finished "Gilead" by Marilynne Robinson and it was one of the most beautiful books I've ever read.

EATS: Toast, butter, jam, and oysters.

ES FAVORITES: I love the longer dresses, especially on my tall frame! The Vera Slip Dress in black, the Georgia Midi in all colors. The first ES piece I ever bought, several years ago, was the Maxine Crop and I still wear it all the time.
