  • Description

A re-imagining of one of our oldest and most treasured styles—the Artist Smock. We changed the sleeves on this newer generation from grown-on dolmans to a generous raglan style and added a bit of trapeze to the body. The seaming pattern allows us to work with the natural grain-line of the fabric to create an incredibly fluid, sweeping, and becoming garment, hemmed just past the hip at a universally comfortable length. It appears quite voluminous, but because of the way it's cut, doesn't overwhelm. The material hangs on the body in luscious folds, and the high boat neck hits right at the collarbone. Roll the sleeves and tuck the front for a very casual, shirting vibe. I love this layered with more linen and belted for sufficient drama, or worn with your favorite jeans and sneaks for the ultimate hop-around-town situation. If you need to feel on top of the world, sensing this smock sweep behind me in the breeze as I walk through my day does the trick for me.

Cut from our classic, sturdy midweight linen. A year-round fabric with weight and substance, but also lightness and movement. Natural imperfections and variation in weave give this material a rich, earthy feel.

The Artist comes in several different fabrics and lengths! See the full series here.

  • Material & Care

    Fabric: Midweight Linen

    Fiber Content: 100% Linen

Description: Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth linen that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing and is virtually lint-free, hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Care: Machine washable. Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look (as pictured here), or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

*Linen is a natural fiber and will fade and wear over time, which we love. If you prefer your garments to not show as much wear, hand wash, and do not tumble dry.

A Lovely Piece

I have a number of tops, this one is a little less voluminous, which is a good thing. It adds variety. I got it in gauze and in linen(hey, love a sale) and they will work very well in my wardrobe.

So easy to wear, you could wear it backwards.

This is now becoming the workhorse of my wardrobe because it goes with everything — French tucked into jeans, fully-tucked into a skirt, untucked with leggings, sleeves rolled, unrolled, half-rolled...

It's one of those effortless easy shapes that doesn't look frumpy. So much so that I wore this to work backwards for the entire day, and I didn't even notice. Just incredible.

Want one in every color and fabric

I finally decided to level up and order three tops and two pants from Elizabeth Suzann. I couldn't be more pleased with all my items and the Artist Smock is no different.

Beautiful piece

I purchased two artist tops and love the look, the style and the drape of these pieces. I sized down in parabola so I did the same here, but have returned them to get a bigger size. I really feel that a loose flowy fit is better suited for this top. As usual ES customer Service was great with the return and I am excitedly waiting for my new size to arrive.
