Good News to Know
  • Made with 100% natural fibers–they’re renewable, feel exquisite to wear, and biodegrade at the end of their life. We garment wash all of our clothing, so your order arrives pre-shrunk and wonderfully softened.
  • Every garment is hand cut and sewn by Sew Co., a Living Wage Certified, low-waste facility located in Asheville, North Carolina’s River Arts District.

There are a handful of garments that I wear over and over again, and this tunic captures the best elements of those staples—an easy, unfussy fit, half sleeves that stay out of the way, flattering mid-thigh length, and one big pocket to catch all the miscellany I end up with throughout the day.

The cut skims the body loosely, making it ideal for layering in the fall and winter. It's my favorite tunic to wear to the studio—when you're working, comfort is key, but you still want to look put together. The Harper has an interesting and avant-garde appeal, and it would only be improved by drips and smears of paint or a dusting of flour from the kitchen.

100% Linen, Oeko-Tex certified. Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season. Variations in base color and texture are not uncommon.

Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced--slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.

Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

Linen is a natural fiber and is expected to wear and fade over time, which we love.

Flax

A neutral to end all neutrals. Our Flax Linen is the undyed, natural color of the fiber. The color can vary from the palest beach sand to uncooked oatmeal with flecks of warm spices to a taupe putty with grey undertones. We challenge you to find a pairing color Flax linen doesn’t bring out the best in.

Black

With the natural variations in the weave of true linen, our Black is anything but basic. Unworn, this forever shade holds the saturation of soot and tar. If you wash and tumble dry, over time you’ll see a bit more fading around the seams, giving a lived-in, favorite tee look.

Pecan

A warm, loamy brown with a nod to milk chocolate. Pair with other earth tones like Olive for head-to-toe forest bathing, or Black to bring out the red undertones.

Saffron

This shade reminds us of the freshest farm eggs and early spring daffodils. It's an elevated yellow with hints of gold. Wear with Terra for a southwest desert vibe or Ivory to really let this yolk run yellow.

Sea Glass

A timeless chameleon. In soft light and shadow this will read more blue. In bright light, we witness a cool grey. We would wear this with Black any day of the week, or take it up a notch with Flax bottoms for some coastal energy.

The 6th Edition Harper Tunic has the same fit and sizing as the previous edition. We've updated it with a center back seam.

Intended to have an oversized, relaxed fit. Feedback on this style has been that it runs large, so feel free to size down if you'd like a slimmer fit.

Here's how the current sizes compare to our older OS sizing:

OSM = XXS/XS OS = S/M OSP = L/XL OSP2 = 1X/2X OSP3 = 3X/4X

Harper Tunic Highlights

1. The intentionally oversized, generous fit is complimented by elbow-length dolman sleeves that don’t restrict the bicep.

2. The Signature asymmetrical pocket is a workhorse for holding a myriad of the day’s tag-a-longs.

3. The expertly stitched bias-faced scoop neckline offers balancing softness.

4. With a slightly curved hem that is shorter in front and longer in back, the tunic hits the perfect mid-thigh length.

In this 6th Edition of Signature colors, we’ve added a center-back seam. Learn about the new seam here.

    My year around uniform.

I love this tunic so much. The black midweight linen is perfect for summer days. It can be dressed up and casual. It is the perfect article of clothing to take when traveling. I love it. Wish I would have ordered two.

    Lovely!

I’m 5’7”, 160 lbs, broad shoulders and usually a M/L or 29/30. If the Harper was offered in a M/L size I would have gone with that, but went with the L/XL as I didn’t want it to be too tight in the shoulders. I’m also pregnant, so figured the extra room would come in handy! Anyway, pulled this out of the bag and it looked comically large for me — but I tried it on anyway and kinda loved it? I remember eons ago reading that ES pieces give you flexibility to size up or down and get your desired shape/look, and with the Harper this finally made sense. Also the linen is divine (but I have a Josephine tunic in linen and already knew this :)) anyway, I wear this all the time (like right now) and totally recommend it if you need something easy to throw on and feel good about!

    Just the best!

This tunic is a favorite! Must be one of the most loved pieces in my closet. I sadly spilled turmeric tea on my old one so I sent it off to the Suay to dye it brown 🤎 As excited as I am for the new color, I’m a big fan of the natural linen and ordered a replacement as soon as they came up for preorder. I cycle between this and my black Harper with biker shorts every day in the summer! The pocket holds my phone, snacks, a book, anything and everything you could ever need!! I’m 5’10” and wear the S/M (original OS).

    Better than I even expected

I ordered this top to wear during my second and third trimester and wow it does not disappoint. It is comfortable, like so cute, and I can't wait to wear it for many many non pregnant years also. I got it in olive and the color is so beautiful. Thank you es!!!

    Harper Tunic in Midweight Linen

I am very petite and wear an xs. The Harper works so well for me. Such a lovely signature piece. I give the Harper five stars. I give Elizabeth ten stars for her attention to customer service. My tunic arrived as promised but I had difficulty pulling it on. The neck was too small to slip on easily so Elizabeth and Laurie decided it was a one off. I returned the tunic and they personally fixed the problem and are now in process of shipping it back to me. True customer service and making things right.
