  • Description

The warm weather version of our favorite, essential shift dress. In a crinkly, rich linen gauze, this piece has so much life and floatiness. The Georgia is one of the first styles I designed, and the pattern was drafted with universal fit in mind. The shoulder seam and sleeve without an armscye looks intentional on all shoulder breadths, the substantial cuff wings out and draws clean lines on any arm, and the just-above-the-knee length works for just about every body.

This is the dress version of our Georgia Tee, which was influenced by effortless caftans from the '60s and '70s but with less material and more practicality in mind. I also drew on neat, crisp blouses from the '40s when women started wearing separates to work. Architectural drama and movement paired with structure and simplicity - a dress that can go anywhere and do just about anything.

It hits just above the knee, and the hem dips a bit longer in the back. You can lounge, explore a city, or sprint after a toddler in this dress. Achieve total summertime ease when worn with bare legs and simple sandals, or go for more of a mood and layer over wide-leg pants. Serves as a dress, tunic, or coverup - it's up to you.

  • Material & Care

    Fabric: Linen Gauze

    Fiber Content: 100% Linen

Description: A gorgeous lightweight linen gauze that has a wonderful texture. The crinkled finish gives the fabric an inherent stretch. It's airy and floaty without being too sheer, hugging the body in slimmer styles and draping beautifully in others. Lighter than our midweight linen, but still strong and durable. It will only soften and improve with age, starting out with a coarser finish but with the ability to become more supple and flexible with wear. We love linen because of the natural strength and durability the fiber possesses and because it is a very friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, is virtually lint-free, hypoallergenic, extremely comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent. This yarn-dyed gauze possesses rustic charm and variation, giving it an organic personality.

Care: Hand or machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry hot. Store folded or flat in order to avoid stretching. If stretching occurs, machine wash and dry to return to its original shape. The crinkled finish is intentional, so do not press. To remove fold creases or wrinkles, lightly steam or toss in the dryer with a damp towel. Avoid excessive stress on seams.

*Linen is a natural fiber and will fade and wear over time, which we love. If you prefer your garments to not show as much wear, hand wash, and do not tumble dry.

  • Sizing & Fit

Intended to have a relaxed, oversized fit. Its structured silhouette stands away from the body and hits above the knee. The same silhouette will fit differently in different fabrics - expect this to feel different than our Midweight Linen and Silk Crepe.

The Georgia is a Great dress

I love the Georgia dress. It is a go to staple in my closet. I wear the five I have previously purchased all year long. I pair it with sandals in the summer and with boots and leggings in the winter. This particular Georgia is completely see thru. I live in Mississippi. The summer is brutally hot and humid here and the last thing I want is to wear another layer underneath my clothing. Although I love the dress style I would recommend a different fabric.

I love the feel and look of this dress. If you live in a more forgiving climate where layers are appreciated;it will be perfect.

gauze georgia dress great

I love the texture and color; fit is good, does have a tendency to stretch and its a bit transparent, so I wear pants or tights under it. Best part--no wrinkles, by the next day, any wrinkles have disappeared. Neckline will stretch but not a real problem. Bottom of dress could be wider, as its hard getting into a car, but I am pear shaped. Very satisfied. Wear a lot. Would buy another one.

Love linen Gauze

This linen gauze hangs so nicely and is light but not too light. I purchased this dress in OS and I am a size 18 with a belly and it is slimming. Last year, I purchased the long version in linen, OS+ and it just looked too big and I ended up returning. I am so happy with this purchase and can see myself wearing it all seasons, a good staple.

Incredible

A beautiful dress. Exactly what I was looking for - can dress it up or down. I also purchased the Greta belt to go with it and have loved the styling options.

Georgia Dress in linen

I love this piece. I didn't get to wear it much this summer as I needed to have it remade, it took about 3 months to receive it. I think it was worth the wait as I see it as a staple in my summer wardrobe for many years to come. The only thing that would make this dress better would be pockets!

Like wearing nothing

I have this dress in charcoal and it’s one of my favorite pieces in my closet. The linen gauze is soft and airy- perfect for humid Florida summers... seriously feels like you’re wearing nothing! I’m 5’2” and got the OSM- it’s definitely oversized but I like that about it. I had a tailor bring up the hem a few inches so it hits right above the knee.
