Good News to Know
  • Made with 100% natural fibers–they’re renewable, feel exquisite to wear, and biodegrade at the end of their life. We garment wash all of our clothing, so your order arrives pre-shrunk and wonderfully softened.
  • Every garment is hand cut and sewn by Sew Co., a Living Wage Certified, low-waste facility located in Asheville, North Carolina’s River Arts District.

There are a handful of garments that I wear over and over again, and this tunic captures the best elements of those staples—an easy, unfussy fit, long sleeves that tuck neatly under vests and jackets, flattering mid-thigh length, and one big pocket to catch all the miscellany I end up with throughout the day.

The cut skims the body loosely making it ideal for layering in the fall and winter. It's my favorite tunic to wear to the studio—when you're working, comfort is key, but you still want to look put together. The Harper has an interesting and avant-garde appeal, and it would only be improved by drips and smears of paint or a dusting of flour from the kitchen.

100% Linen, Oeko-Tex certified. Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season. Variations in base color and texture are not uncommon.

Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced--slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.

Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

Linen is a natural fiber and is expected to wear and fade over time, which we love.

Flax

A neutral to end all neutrals. Our Flax Linen is the undyed, natural color of the fiber. The color can vary from the palest beach sand to uncooked oatmeal with flecks of warm spices to a taupe putty with grey undertones. We challenge you to find a pairing color Flax linen doesn’t bring out the best in.

Black

With the natural variations in the weave of true linen, our Black is anything but basic. Unworn, this forever shade holds the saturation of soot and tar. If you wash and tumble dry, over time you’ll see a bit more fading around the seams, giving a lived-in, favorite tee look.

Olive

Like a drizzle of the nicest bottle of olive oil in your pantry, this shade of our Midweight Linen is a Mediterranean-inspired pop of earth. Wash and dry it for years and it will still retain the most beautiful lichen-esque hue. Pairs effortlessly with neutrals like our Flax Midweight Linen.

Navy

Possibly the cooler little sister to Black, our Navy Midweight Linen is a color of substance. It can read almost black in a certain light, but its true essence is an inky midnight blue. It fades over time, wash, and wear like your favorite dark denim, which makes us love it all the more.

Pecan

A warm, loamy brown with a nod to milk chocolate. Pair with other earth tones like Olive for head-to-toe forest bathing, or Black to bring out the red undertones.

Saffron

This shade reminds us of the freshest farm eggs and early spring daffodils. It's an elevated yellow with hints of gold. Wear with Terra for a southwest desert vibe or Ivory to really let this yolk run yellow.

Sea Glass

A timeless chameleon. In soft light and shadow this will read more blue. In bright light, we witness a cool grey. We would wear this with Black any day of the week, or take it up a notch with Flax bottoms for some coastal energy.

To accommodate the long sleeves without limiting the range of motion too much, this version is cut slightly narrower than the original, short sleeve Harper. For a roomier fit and elbow-length sleeves, check out the short sleeve version!

This version has also been sized down slightly (compared to the regular Harper Tunic, so folks who have found that style running large should find this fits truer to size). Despite sizing the body down, we increased the bicep slightly based on feedback. We've also updated it with a center back seam.

Long Sleeve Harper Tunic

1. The slightly oversized fit is complimented by bracelet-length dolman sleeves that don’t restrict the bicep.

2. The Signature asymmetrical pocket is a workhorse for holding a myriad of the day’s tag-a-longs.

3. The expertly stitched bias-faced scoop neckline offers balancing softness.

4. With a slightly curved hem that is shorter in front and longer in back, the tunic hits the perfect mid-thigh length.

5. In this 6th Edition, we’ve added a center-back seam. Learn about the new seam here.

    A staple for sure!

I have several me-made Harpers that I've sewn from ES patterns, but this was my first time actually purchasing one from the store. It fits great and I do like the new center-back seam. The olive linen is gorgeous! I'm pregnant and anticipate that I'll be able to wear this all the way through my pregnancy. Note that the sleeves are definitely bracelet-length on me and I'm only 5'3".

Wonderful piece with updates but if you like the oversized fit of the Harper I would recommend sizing up

I love the Harper top so much and have bigger arms so was super excited for the enlarged arm sleeves. I prefer the oversized boxy fit of the Harper as my hips are wider. I am normally a OS (S/M) but sized up to a L/XL in the new long sleeve style and am very happy I did because it is still pretty fitted in my opinion compared to other previous styles. Very happy to have the arms fit better now but they were still a little snug at first and I need the linen sleeves to stretch through wear. The short sleeve is a bit more forgiving in fit but I’m super happy to have the long sleeve version for work and to wear under jackets now that the colder weather is here. Highly recommend this top. Just suggest to check the new garment measurements and don’t go off of your old sizing before ordering.

Oatmeal color is my only dislike

With grey hair, the oatmeal color of my new shirt is just not for me. The medium weight linen is great. The pockets are great. The length is great. I have considered dyeing it to a darker color. Otherwise, if I had been able to get a 3X in a darker color, this would be perfect!

    Comfortable Tunic

After admiring the Harper tunic for a long time, I ordered the 1x/2x based on the size chart. I found it to be very oversized, so exchanged for the L/XL, which fit better while still being slightly oversized. I wish there was a slightly shorter version, since the tunic length is almost like a dress on my 5'2" frame (especially in the back). But it's still a nice quality, comfortable linen top.

    Beautifully made tunic

I am a repeat customer for the long sleeve Harper Tunic. I love the styling and the material. Look forward to wearing it once the weather warms up!
