  • Description

The Harper Jacket is a consistent go-to for me in our Signature Collection. It’s an amalgamation of many of my favorite patterns, adopting the sleeve from our ever-popular Cocoon Coat, the pockets from our Harper Tunic, a back vent from the side vents on our archived Josephine Tunic, and a collar reminiscent of our Clyde Jacket. Intended to evoke the feeling of a men’s blazer tossed casually over the shoulders. Well-placed darts in the shawl collar urge the lapels to lay open and flat, or overlap in the front for a wrapped-up look with an organic shape and added warmth. The back vent suggests coattails and allows for less restriction and breezy movement as you walk. Two large pockets hold everything and then some. Finally, the slightly lengthened dolman sleeves are soft and loose fitting, and the cuffs hit just at the forearm to show a long sleeve peeking out from underneath. Bare-armed looks just as put-together.

Cut from our classic, sturdy midweight linen. A year-round fabric with weight and substance, but also lightness and movement. Natural imperfections and variation in weave give this material a rich, earthy feel.

  • Material & Care

    Fabric: Midweight Linen

    Fiber Content: 100% Linen

Description: Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth linen that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing and is virtually lint-free, hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Care: Machine washable. Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look (as pictured here), or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

*Linen is a natural fiber and will fade and wear over time, which we love. If you prefer your garments to not show as much wear, hand wash, and do not tumble dry.

  • Sizing & Fit

Intended to have a relaxed, oversized fit. Open front allows for versatility in sizing. Dolman sleeves are accomodating and slightly cropped to allow for layering and to avoid visual bulk. Size down for a slimmer look.

Note: this generation of the Harper Jacket has been sized down one full size (meaning the shoulder seam length is 3/4" shorter on each side per size) from the previous generation.

Cannot day enough good things

Cannot day enough good things about this!!!! I got the green color and often wear it with a sheer button down layered underneath, it is so beautifully made and so versatile, saving up to purchase in other colors. I am a size 18/20 usually and purchased this in a os plus, and the fit is just perfect

Beautiful piece, not for petites

This jacket is everything that I expected from ES. Beautiful textile, gorgeous drape and color. Unfortunately, it did not work for my petite frame. I wanted it to so badly, but I found myself swimming and overwhelmed in the amount of fabric. If the garment measurements were taken in just a bit OR this jacket was sized like the Clyde with actual sizes, if would have been a keeper for me.

Not for petites

Nice idea, but the actualization was not functional. I am 5'2" 110lbs, size 0/2 and the OSM was massive! I would encourage sizes to be available for smaller people just like they are available in larger sizes. Of course the color, quality and fabric was wonderful but always a little frustrating when the smallest size is similar to a tent. Exchanged it for a Clyde jacket and was happy but still would like a jacket of this style too.

Love it

I ordered OSM (5’6”, 118 lbs) and it fit perfectly, but still oversized as I wanted. It’s great as a layer and as the description says, it has great movement when you walk. Very happy with the purchase!

Lovely “third piece”

The Harper jacket pulls together so many outfits! The generous pockets mean I can go purse-free, too. Can’t wait to continue to add to my ES collection. Well done!

Perfect piece

This piece is amazing! I have only had it during the warm weather months so I haven’t gotten to wear it to the fullest yet but I know it will be a perfect fall piece. It has lots of material but doesn’t look overbearing and is super comfortable!

Beautiful heavy casual jacket

I purchased one of these in black and wear it around the house tied with a scarf. I love the quick pockets and both loose and tied it's very flattering and dramatic.

Really happy.

I really enjoy wearing this. It is easy to care for. I don't iron it, but I suppose you can.

more versatile than expected

I waited for a while on this piece as I am short and was concerned that the jacket would overwhelm me. But while it is voluminous, I do not feel dwarfed. I've worn with Florence pants, jeans, and dresses. I have worn it to work with both short sleeves and with sweaters under it. I have worn it for play with overalls, and with a Harper Tunic. The pockets are a bit low and I cannot reach the bottom of them and that is the only negative I can think of..

Favorite thing ever!

It's kind of silly to write a review about this piece because everyone loves it and all the gushing has already been done. Maybe I can add the tip - Don't be afraid of OSM. I'm a broad-shouldered 5'8" and 150 and am size 10 (IRL, not in ES) and this is perfect and roomy.
