  • Description

The warm weather version of our favorite minimal tee dress, engineered to be a true workhorse in your wardrobe. In a crinkly, rich linen gauze, this piece has so much life and floatiness. The Georgia is one of the first styles I designed, and the pattern was drafted with universal fit in mind. The shoulder seam and sleeve without an armscye look intentional on all shoulder breadths, the substantial cuff wings out and draws clean lines on any arm, and the elegant midi length is never out of place.

This is the midi version of our Georgia Tee, which was influenced by effortless caftans from the '60s and '70s but with less material and more practicality in mind. I also drew on neat, crisp blouses from the '40s when women started wearing separates to work. Architectural drama and movement paired with structure and simplicity - a dress that can go anywhere and do just about anything.

It hits mid-calf, and the hem is slightly longer in the back than in the front. This dress is meant for road trips along the coast, layered over flowing trousers for balmy evening dining all'aperto, and paired with bare feet for lazy afternoons indoors with a good book.

The Georgia is our best-selling series. Shop all available fabrics and colors here!

  • Material & Care

    Fabric: Linen Gauze

    Fiber Content: 100% Linen

Description: A gorgeous lightweight linen gauze that has a wonderful texture. The crinkled finish gives the fabric an inherent stretch. It's airy and floaty without being too sheer, hugging the body in slimmer styles and draping beautifully in others. It's lighter than our midweight linen but still strong and durable. It will only soften and improve with age, starting out with a coarser finish but with the ability to become more supple and flexible with wear. We love linen because of the natural strength and durability the fiber possesses, and because it is a very friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, is virtually lint-free, hypoallergenic, extremely comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent. This yarn-dyed gauze possesses rustic charm and variation, giving it an organic personality.

Care: Hand or machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry hot. Store folded or flat in order to avoid stretching. If stretching occurs, machine wash and dry to return to its original shape. The crinkled finish is intentional, so do not press. To remove fold creases or wrinkles, lightly steam or toss in the dryer with a damp towel. Avoid excessive stress on seams.

*Linen is a natural fiber and will fade and wear over time, which we love. If you prefer your garments to not show as much wear, hand wash, and do not tumble dry.

  • Sizing & Fit

Intended to have a relaxed, oversized fit. Its structured silhouette stands away from the body and hits mid-calf. The same silhouette will fit differently in different fabrics - expect this to feel different than our Midweight Linen and Silk Crepe.

Too big

I have several Georgia tees so I though the Georgia dress would fit the same on top but the arm holes in the Linen Gauze Georgia dress are SO much bigger that my elbows can touch my side inside the dress. It is a bit disappointing since we wait so long to receive the garments.

Another fav

I also own this in silk crepe and I love the linen gauze!! Especially for summer or when I’m nervous about sweating (I live in LA). The fabric has a great texture and I recently took a day trip and layered the Clyde jacket in midweight linen over this and it was fantastic. I ended up exchanging the white color for black bc the ivory was slightly too yellowish for me.

Don't hold out

T-shirt dresses typically make me look like a little kid or I'm wearing a nightshirt, which is why I resisted the Georgia midi for so long.

I took a chance and got it in Amber and now want it in more colors and textiles! Amber is a beautiful light rust color, super easy to wear. And the linen gauze is perfect for gross NYC summer days. I want to live in it.

I can be in between sizes in ES depending on the fit I want. Medium/6 on the bottom and S/M on the top. I got an OSM in this dress because I know that gauze tends to relax a bit but would try it in an OS next, since I'd want a different feel/color if I was to get another of the same dress.

I normally buy petite/short sizes and the length on this is perfect for me.

Perfect summer dress (pregnant or not)

Was not super into investing in maternity specific clothing so ordered this dress in two colors. Got the o/s and it has been perfect at all stages of my pregnancy - I’m 28 weeks now and it’s still effortlessly flowing off my body and feeling so so good. Can’t wait to enjoy it next summer sans baby bod. I could have gone down one size for a still flower but less oversized look.

chic and comfortable

This is my first ES purchase and I'm in love. The way it drapes and moves is really wonderful, and it's so comfortable, I'd wear it every day if I could. I am excited to wear it warmer months, because it can feel a little monk-like when I pair it with leggings and scarves for the winter. It was a little longer than I expected, but nothing I can't live with. I'm so excited to have a dress I love wearing at age 36 and know I'll still love wearing at age 66. This dress makes me feel like I finally understand my own style!

Perfection

This just arrived and, the minute I tried it on, I knew the Georgia Midi was going to be a huge player in my wardrobe. The crinkled linen has a gorgeous weight, the charcoal a depth of color that makes the fabric feel very special. I've already tested the dress out with flats and heals (perfect!), with silk scarves and wool (perfect), and with some big, chunky necklaces and earrings (perfect!). I'm going to wear the dress to dinner tomorrow night, and it will certainly accompany me when I attend my next writer's conference; it's simply, effortless, so cool.

Georgia Midi Ali en Gauze charcoal dream OS

i am a fantastically versatile dress. I’m currently being worn at a conference in Maui-actually right this minute I’m attending an interesting lecture. I’ve also served as a bathing suit cover-up and I was even used as a light blanket while on the beach!

I’ve been accessorized with a belt, a scarf, a long necklace and I can imagine being so versatile to look great with a vest. My color is complex on its own, but I blossom with a splash of color.

You should see me right now-after 3 days of wear and no wrinkles. I can see that I’m going to have a good active life with this owner.
