Florence Pattern Hacking Boot Camp
What if one pattern wasn't just a single garment, but the key to a whole wardrobe of possibilities? We’ve described the Florence pattern as a "classic, building-block that's a jumping-off point for a variety of pant styles" and we're taking those words to heart.
We'll move beyond the original design and treat the Florence as a creative canvas, learning patterning fundamentals through hacking. Imagine tapering the leg for a narrower silhouette, bold patch pockets for a touch of utility, adding horizontal seam across the calf to create a lantern shaped hem, swapping out a thinner waistband for a lounge-ier feel, darting the knee and bringing in the ankle for an of-the-moment barrel leg, chopping the hem and widening the leg to create voluminous tap-shorts, or adding side seam slits for extra movement.
In this live, four-week workshop we'll take your Florence-adjacent ideas and dreams and turn them into actionable pattern edits. We can follow several concepts all the way through to completion, or focus on drafting depending on the groups goals.
You'll end the class with an arsenal of fresh patterns to experiment with this winter, and the skills to continue drafting to bring your ideas to life.
