Our favorite, essential tee and dress series. The Georgia is one of the first styles I designed, and the pattern was drafted with universal fit in mind. The shoulder seam and sleeve without an armscye look intentional on all shoulder breadths, the substantial cuff wings out and draws clean lines on any arm, and the various length options follow the rule of thirds creating proportions that work on almost every body.

The Georgia is a perfect closet staple. A basic, boxy tee that has a modern, utilitarian feeling while still remaining soft and fluid. This style that can be used a base pattern for endless variations. Make this style in various weight fabrics for year-round wear. Perfectly scooped neckline hits right at the collarbone and doesn’t show bra straps. Substantial cuffs give weight and luxury to the piece but are very straightforward to construct.

This pattern includes all three length options: the Georgia Tee, Georgia Dress, and Georgia Midi.

Fabric, Tools, & Notions

We recommend light- to medium-weight fabrics with no stretch will work exceptionally well. Linen, cotton voile, silk crepe, seersucker, tencel, rayon-pretty much anything with some drape will work for this pattern. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment. You can even try this in a wool or wool blend for a wintry option.

You'll need:

-Fabric of your choice - see detailed fabric requirements here.

-All purpose polyester thread

-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)

-Needle

PERFECTLY TIMELESS!

This top is so timeless. Dress it up, dress it down. It’s perfect. I’ve made four with matching Florence Pants. One set I made from strawberry print linen and they’re the perfect set of pajamas. And one set is black linen and it’s so sleek and feels like I could wear it absolutely anywhere.

Turned out well with modifications

Overall, I really liked this pattern. It has a huge amount of ease . . . I wish finished garment measurements had been provided for the bust so I could have seen how large it was. I ended up taking it in 2 3/4 inches on each side.
Also, the instructions are incredibly detailed, but in retrospect I should have stay stitched the neckline. It would definitely help beginning sewists if this were included in the directions.
18 dollars seems a bit much for such a simple pattern, but I do have to say I love how mine turned out after modifications.

Thank you for your review of our Georgia Series pattern, Molly! We're so glad you enjoyed the pattern. We provide finished garment measurements for all of our patterns so sewers can decipher if alterations are needed. The garment measurements for this pattern are on page 10 of the Instructions PDF. Let us know if you have any trouble finding that in your PDF by contacting us at support@elizabethsuzann.com. Thank you again for your feedback!

Complete Beginner

This is my first project to make clothing from scratch, so I was super excited. This pattern is nice, although I'd prefer to have a slightly longer sleeves and slightly smaller sleeve openings (because they flare out). I will definitely make this again (hence 3 stars) with a few modifications. The instruction was a little confusing for the neck binding part. I had to look up other online tutorials and youtube to understand how to proceed. Would be nice if the instruction could include adding French seams as an option. I think it will make the top more professionally finished.

Thanks for your review! We're always open to hearing feedback like this from our home sewers. If possible, we'd love to hear more about your experience with the neck binding portion of the instructions, and you can reach out to us at support@elizabethsuzann.com. Thank you!

Perfect fit

Made two Tees already and I love it I cropped the top and it goes really well with the boxi fit. I surely will make the dress too. In particular in love with the neck opening it fits perfectly and looks gorgeous.

Easy to follow and flexible to personalize. Super comfy.

The pattern is easy to follow and easy to assemble. It took longer to make than the instructions say, but my expertise is quilts and bags and such, not clothing. I made a shirt first to test the size. I found that the armholes were smaller than I wanted, so I altered the pattern to make the arm openings 1/2 inch longer and it was perfect. I also added pockets to the dress, but that’s easy. I wish the pattern had an option for a straight hem instead of curved and was just a bit wider at the bottom, but I’ll just alter it for that. All around, I recommend. I made my dress out of double gauze and it’s amazing! I’ll make a couple more for summer.
