  • Description

Named after Japanese-American sculptor Ruth Asawa, this tie belt draws inspiration from elements of the traditional obi, but also brings in elements of traditional menswear and art deco wraps and sashes. Asawa's work suggests the infinite curvature of the human form, transformation of shape, and manipulation of volume. Use this piece to metamorphose our most oversized, fluid garments into new and transformative shapes. Subtle curves or dramatic cinching add endless options to your wardrobe. Widest at the center, this belt tapers gently towards the ends. Wrap it around your waist twice, knotting or tying it into a bow in the front or off to the side for a more asymmetrical look. Or go a different direction, and wear it like a cummerbund knotted in the back with romantic, trailing ends. It's a statement piece that feels immediately secure and substantial on the body. And after a gloriously indulgent meal, all you have to do is loosen the knot a bit—no need to feel restricted.

Use this wool version to close off jackets and coats from the elements, or to cinch in a sweater dress at the waist.

  • Material & Care

    Fabric: Lightweight Wool

Fiber Content: 60% Climate Beneficial Wool, 40% Alpaca, domestically sourced

Description: A cozy, lightweight, plainweave wool. This deceptively soft wool has the luxury and handfeel of cashmere or brushed cotton and the warmth of heavy sheepswool, without the weight or itch. Our wool-alpaca blend is as breathable as it is insulating. Because of its moisture wicking properties, it’s sure to keep you comfortable on a brisk winter day. The fine yarn gauge and tight weave make this Lightweight Wool perfect for many seasons and climates. Our wool is washed in house to give it a brushed, organic finish. Heathered yarn blends natural and colored fiber together for a variegated, earthy appearance.

Care: Hand wash with cold water and wool detergent. Lay flat to dry. For a sharp suiting look, press on high heat with steam and a wool clapper.

*Due to wool's short staple fibers, some pilling is to be expected in areas of high friction. Use a wool brick or sweater shaver to remove pills.
