RETURNS THIS MAY!
I first experimented with this style in the Fall of 2014 making a relaxed Louise in a soft wool melton. This time, it's back in a slimmer fitting, more practical fabric that works with the silhouette beautifully. Inspired by the continuous, rounded forms of Louise Bourgeois sculptures Cumul 1 and Clamart and Eva Hesse's Repetition Nineteen III, the funnel neck is a seamless extension of the body. The lack of a seam at the neck is a simple difference that gives the top a distinctive, modern, architectural look.
Sleeveless cut hits right at the shoulder bone and drops straight down creating a beautiful, flattering line that gives the look of strong, upright shoulders. I pride myself on armscyes that provide full coverage around the soft part of the underarm that very few of us wish to highlight and that cut vertically to minimize the width of the bicep. To be honest, there isn't anything that looks quite as powerful as a woman in a black sleeveless turtleneck, ready to get shit done.
Organic, bias cut rolled edges trim all of the openings - a finish that honors the nature of the material and gels perfectly with the story behind the garment. This trim doesn't interfere with or contradict the nature of the fabric - it feels more like an extension of the way the material wants to behave naturally.
Slim fit through the body that pairs wonderfully with high waisted pants and skirts. I love this snugger fitting top with fuller trousers like the Andy and Florence. It also layers well underneath jackets and tops particularly if you want to add some interest to an outfit but don't want to add bulk at the arm. Really shines underneath jumpsuits and dresses for the art-school look.
The Louise Funnel Neck also comes in Natural, Ochre, and Soft Black.
