I have a natural affinity for oversized button-downs. However, there are a few elements of traditional button-downs that I dislike and that I know wouldn't work with our manufacturing process.

Instead, the Long Sleeve Kara Snap Top eschews traditional stand collars, visible buttons, and sleeve cuffs with pleating. What remains is the suggestion of this classic garment and its spirit, but with all the comfort, ease, and simplicity that are the hallmarks of ES clothing.

This long-sleeve, snap-front, tunic-length top skews masculine, feminine, and everywhere in between. It works in almost any setting—worn to an evening affair or the beach as a coverup. I wanted to capture the timelessness and the nostalgia; a crisp button-down is a constant throughout history and in most people's closets today, but this universal silhouette somehow still has the ability to intrigue.

I picture an obscure artist in a billowing tunic with rolled-up sleeves, an eccentric professor with shirttails over wool trousers, or a brilliant writer in a sunlit apartment, clad only in a rumpled shirt with no time for pants.

Medium-duty snaps are sewn inside the placket, so they're invisible. Easy and accessible to open, sturdy enough to not pull apart on accident. Wear closed or open, and fasten as many or as few snaps as you like. Form and function in true harmony!

Named in collaboration with Aja Barber after the contemporary artist Kara Walker, who we dream of wearing this style in the studio.

Lightweight Linen

100% Linen. Lightweight, airy, and subtly sheer. This material feels like wearing a whisper. It has a cool, smooth hand-feel and catches the light most deliciously.

At 130 GSM, or 3.8oz/yd, our Lightweight Linen has enough weight to not feel too delicate for everyday wear, but is substantially lighter and floatier than our Midweight Linen. Excellent for sticky summer days, but also great for layering year-round.

Natural strength and durability are hallmarks of linen, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season.

Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced-–slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.

Care: Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

Model's Sizing

Taylor is 5'6" with a 50.5" chest, 44" waist, and 54" hip. She is wearing the size 1X/2X.
