New vs. Old Cotton Canvas: This canvas feels very similar to our original conventional cotton canvas from 2015-2019. It is heavier and sturdier than the Upcycled Cotton Canvas from 2022, and more consistent in terms of weave and quality.

About This Fabric: A durable, 9oz duck canvas. This is a workhorse material with a distinctly architectural feel. This plain, tight weave with two warp yarns and one weft is one of the most durable—resisting pilling, thinning, and tearing by nature of its very structure. It has a sturdy body that's relatively stiff at first, but will break in and patina beautifully with wear. Looks great pressed crisp or rumpled and worn.

Beneath the Surface: This cotton is organically grown. Why does that matter? Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Organic cotton is also grown without the use of genetically engineered seed. This material uses low impact dyes, which minimize water usage and utilize environmentally friendly coloring agents.

Care: Machine washable. Wash on cold and tumble dry warm to preserve color. Press on low with steam to remove wrinkles or leave unpressed for a perfectly unfussy look. Will break in and soften with wear.

What to Expect: Cotton is a natural fiber and is expected to wear and fade over time, which we love.

Black

A true, deep black that is always in style. In Organic Cotton Canvas, this black will fade gently over time, like denim. We want to wear the Black Canvas with a fun graphic tee just as much as we would a smart, cabled-wool sweater.

Natural

Our natural shade of Organic Cotton Canvas adapts across your wardrobe with ease. Dress it up, or down, it always seems to work. This light cream shade is neither too blue nor too yellow and reminds us of a bare painter’s canvas, bone, and sun-dried sea shells. If you worry about keeping the Natural shade clean, don’t! We’ve been wearing and caring for this color canvas for years and it is resilient with proper care.

Olivine     

We offered a shade of Cotton Canvas nearly identical to Olivine back in the early 2010s, previously referred to as Khaki. Khaki makes one often think of beige or tan, so we opted to lean a little more on the subtle, muddy olive notes in our naming of this exciting shade. It feels highly adaptable to both a professional or rough-and-tumble wardrobe, and sparks interest and intrigue wherever we wear it.

Umber

This red-brown is a pretty penny if there ever was one. Umber gives off a deep, warm spice vibe that has us thinking of cinnamon, cloves, and, to be honest, pie. This is the first true brown we have offered in cotton, and it seems to feel at home next to blacks, neutrals, blues and greens. That’s not to say we aren’t eagerly awaiting an opportunity to pair it with a cozy red sweater.

Small increases in front and back rise, added ease in waist and hips for sizes 1X-5X, small amount of length added to inseam.

Intended to have a body-skimming but relaxed fit. High waist, slightly tapered leg, and hem that hits right above the ankle. Extra-large, crescent shaped pockets that span the side panel. Elastic waist provides flexibility, so try sizing up or down based on your preferences.

Anna is 5'2" with a 35.5" chest, 28" waist, and 37" hip. She is wearing the size XS Regular in Olivine.

Mikaela is 5'8" with a 34" chest, 29" waist, and 39" hip. She is wearing the size M Regular in Black and Natural.

Julia is 5'8" with a 46.5" chest, 36.5" waist, and 52" hip. She is wearing the size 2X Regular in Umber.
