Fabric Guide

We're committed to reducing the social and environmental footprint of our material choices. Elizabeth Suzann proudly uses natural fibers for our garments which are biodegradable materials that are produced using renewable resources. They require far less chemical engineering to produce, support traditional agricultural practices across the globe, and are safer to produce and wear than synthetics. Beyond the choice of the raw fiber itself, we are working towards improved transparency and responsibility throughout the supply chain.

Understated luxury
Midweight Linen

100% Linen, Oeko-Tex certified. Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season. Variations in base color and texture are not uncommon.

Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced--slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.

Moves Like Liquid
Washable Silk

100% Silk, GOTS and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. Washed Silk Crepe that drapes and moves like liquid.

Our silk has an ultra-soft feel with a barely-there sheen that comes alive with movement. This extremely high-quality fabric was developed in a custom, substantial weight and is meant to be worn and loved. Every silk garment is pre-washed and shrunk to your size so you can wear, love, wash, and repeat without worry (or a trip to the dry-cleaners).

Silk is a natural fiber with inherent breathability and strength. This weave has a finer, more consistent look than some of our other fabrics, but it still has occasional variations. Color will vary from dye lot to dye lot. While silk is a very strong fiber, it is still a natural material that can and will break down over time. To ensure your garment lasts as long as possible, do not wear tighter than intended and pay attention to tension or pressure on the seams.

LIGHT AS AIR
Lightweight Linen

100% Linen. Lightweight, airy, and subtly sheer. This material feels like wearing a whisper. It has a cool, smooth hand-feel and catches the light most deliciously.

At 130 GSM, or 3.8oz/yd, our Lightweight Linen has enough weight to not feel too delicate for everyday wear, but is substantially lighter and floatier than our Midweight Linen. Excellent for sticky summer days, but also great for layering year-round.

Natural strength and durability are hallmarks of linen, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

ELEGANT YET DURABLE
Cotton Canvas

Made from 100% Organic Cotton. A durable, 9oz duck canvas. This is a workhorse material with a distinctly architectural feel. This plain, tight weave with two warp yarns and one weft is one of the most durable—resisting pilling, thinning, and tearing by nature of its very structure. It has a sturdy body that's relatively stiff at first, but will break in and patina beautifully with wear. Looks great pressed crisp or rumpled and worn.

This cotton is organically grown. Why does that matter? Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Organic cotton is also grown without the use of genetically engineered seed. This material uses low impact dyes, which minimize water usage and utilize environmentally friendly coloring agents.

100% Organic, low impact dyes. Imported from India.
