Tell me about this workshop!
In this workshop you'll learn how to sew a beautiful, functional apron using the Harper pattern—adapted into the perfect holiday gift or festive kitchen companion.
We'll walk through the full construction from start to finish, including cutting, sewing, and finishing all the details that make this apron as lovely to look at as it is to wear. It's a wonderful project for gifting—make one for yourself and a few for everyone on your list.
This workshop is a great option if you want a fun, seasonal project that's achievable in a weekend and yields something truly useful and handmade. No prior experience with the Harper pattern needed—we'll cover everything together.
Who is this for?
Accessible for beginners but a great project for anyone. If you're comfortable with basic sewing (or are joining us from the Georgia Tee workshop!), you're ready for this project.

How do live virtual workshops work?
This is a live, 2-day workshop hosted virtually. You'll get access to our workshop platform which has a community forum, other resources and guides, and the live video classes (it functions just like a Zoom call) along with the recordings after each class.
I teach the entire project live and you are able to ask questions and interact in real-time. The recorded classes are then available to you for life to re-watch at your convenience.
What's included?
-
Core Pattern & Resources
- Harper digital pattern: our oversized tunic PDF pattern in both short and love sleeve versions, we’ll adapt the pattern together for apron construction
- Supply & fabric guide: curated recommendations for fabric, notions, and machine setup to ensure success
- Option to purchase printed pattern: students will have the option to purchase a printed copy of the pattern before the workshop starts if you choose
-
Live Classes
- Two x 2.5 hour live classes: real-time instruction, step-by-step video demos, and the opportunity to ask all your questions
- Office Hours access: for the month of November you'll be able to join weekly Office Hours calls for additional live support and help
-
Community & Support
- Private community access: live workshops are hosted in our private Skool group, where you're also able to ask questions and get live feedback and support from Liz and other students
- Lifetime membership: you are able to remain in this group for life for continued support and guidance
What tools/equipment do I need to have?
- A sewing machine in good working order capable of a straight stitch and ideally a zig-zag stitch
- At least two new, sharp machine needles appropriate for your fabric (a Universal 80/12 is a great start)
- Fabric shears
- Pins and/or pattern weights
- Seam ripper (mistakes are part of the process!)
- Iron and ironing board
What other supplies will I need?
- 1.5–2 yards of woven fabric (a festive cotton, linen, or canvas works beautifully — this is a great time to use a print you love!)
- All-purpose polyester thread. I recommend Gutermann Mara 100 for almost all projects, and it's the thread we've manufactured with for years
- Clear gridded ruler with 1/8" markings
- Pattern paper or tracing paper for pattern adjustments
- Tailors chalk or fabric marking pen
- Pencil/pens
- Printed copy of the Harper Pattern (the digital pattern is included with the workshop, you can print at home or order a full-size printed copy prior to the workshop)
What happens next?
Immediately after you check-out, you'll receive an email with an invitation to our private Skool group. This will let you access our community platform, and this is where the workshop classes will be hosted when they occur.
Once you're logged in, you'll find a brief video that walks you through the platform, and then you can start exploring right away.
You'll get an email from me as the workshop date approaches with more information about downloading your pattern files and starting to gather your tools and supplies!
