There are a handful of garments that I wear over and over again, and this tunic captures the best elements of those staples—an easy, unfussy fit, half sleeves that stay out of the way, flattering mid-thigh length, and one big pocket to catch all the miscellany I end up with throughout the day.

The cut skims the body loosely, making it ideal for layering in the fall and winter. It's my favorite tunic to wear to the studio—when you're working, comfort is key, but you still want to look put together. The Harper has an interesting and avant-garde appeal, and it would only be improved by drips and smears of paint or a dusting of flour from the kitchen.

Fiber: 100% Linen

New vs. Old Midweight Linen: Our previous Midweight Linen was by far our best-selling fabric, but inconsistencies from the mill over time and unpredictable quality led us to seek out a new and improved option, without changing the essence of our most popular fabric. While this new Midweight Linen is sourced from a new supplier, we directly matched the technical specifications of our previous Midweight Linen. The end result is nearly indiscernible, with a few key improvements.

It’s the same weight/GSM and yarn size as our previous Midweight Linen, but with a softer, more matte handfeel. It’s hard to describe, but our New Midweight Linen feels more dynamic and alive, whereas recent deliveries of our previous linen had started to seem slightly flat, crisp and overly smooth.

About This Fabric: Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.

Beneath the Surface: Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season. Variations in base color and texture are not uncommon.

Care: Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.

What to Expect: Linen is a natural fiber and is expected to wear and fade over time, which we love. Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced--slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.

Sourcing: European Flax and Standard 100 certified. Imported from Lithuania.

Ink
A true, deep black that is always in style. We’re life-long fans of pairing black with black, but you can really turn up the volume by pairing this classic color with a bold stripe or highly saturated color palette.

Salt
Our Salt color is more eggwhite than optic, which is how we like a white. It’s bright, its crisp, and it pairs perfectly with every other color of our Midweight Linen. We keep returning to wearing Salt alongside new Pear and Flax bottoms.

Cacao
This matte, cool brown is our definition of casual elegance. It can be dressed down or up and shine equally with sneakers or silk. Cacao is less warm and saturated than our Pecan brown from 2023 and more like slipping into a square of milk chocolate. We pair Cacao most often with Flax, Pear, and Verte.

Pear
This is a shade not to miss. Pear is a sandy yellow-green that transcends skin tones and hair colors. There isn’t a color in this palette we don’t want to wear with Pear. It reminds us of brewed green tea, pistachio butter, and green-leafed hellebores in late winter. Our favorite “pearings” with this color are Salt, Ink, and Indigo.

Flax
Our new un-dyed 100% flax linen is a departure from the sandy, warm shade you’ve come to know over the years. The new Flax reminds us of sun-kissed concrete with its cool, gray undertones. We’re awestruck by the natural variations of linen fiber in its most elemental form. This Flax shade will shine when paired with any color in this palette.

Verte
A feel-good shade of green that is more leafy than olive in color. Like a wearable herb garden, Verte finds its home alongside our earthy Cacao and Cedar. Fans of our Olive green Midweight Linen will find Verte to have much cooler undertones.

Indigo
Our new deep Indigo blue is quite a departure from our former Navy. While the blue of years past could often be mistaken for Black in some light, Indigo is entirely distinctive. It’s rich, warm, and reminds us of our favorite pairs of dark denim jeans. Wear the bottoms as a cozier alternative to denim, and the tops as compliments to Cedar and Cacao.

Cedar
This red-brown is a pretty penny if there ever was one. Cedar gives off a warm spice vibe that has us thinking of cinnamon, cloves, and, to be honest, pie. The aged terracotta tones come alive next to Indigo and Ink, but we also find a matching set in this hue to be a *chef’s kiss* of a choice.

9TH EDITION

This edition has been updated for a more true to size fit. Feedback was that the style was running large, so the upper body has been scaled down slightly. We also opened up the neckline slightly, and shifted the shoulders forward to improve fit and help minimize backsliding. Rely on the sizing chart and garment measurements to choose your current, correct size!

This edition maintains our center back seam for most efficient use of materials.

Anna (wearing Indigo, Pear) is 5'2" with a 35.5" chest, 28" waist, and 37" hip. She is wearing the size XXS/XS.

Mikaela (wearing Ink, Cacao) is 5'8" with a 34" chest, 29" waist, and 39" hip. She is wearing the size S/M.

Julia (wearing Verte, Flax) is 5'8" with a 46.5" chest, 36.5" waist, and 52" hip. She is wearing the size 1X/2X.

Taylor (wearing Salt, Cedar) is 5'6" with a 50.5" chest, 44" waist, and 54" hip. She is wearing the size 1X/2X.
