The Harper Tunic is an ES staple. It is so easy to wear, and it's also a very easy and fun garment to sew. In this one-day virtual workshop, we will make it together live in one day, and you will leave with a completed garment and several ideas for repurposing this pattern into other pieces for your wardrobe. This workshop is hosted over Zoom from my home sewing studio. Workshop size is limited to 30 participants in order to give adequate time for questions and 1-1 assistance!
What does the workshop include?
- Harper Series digital sewing pattern
- Full-size printed pattern files
- Prep class and full Saturday workshop (8 hours of live instruction via Zoom)
- Recordings of prep class and workshop to rewatch at your convenience
- Optional 30 minute 1-1 Zoom follow-up to troubleshoot, discuss fitting, or pattern hacks you'd like to try (included in workshop price)
- One-time 20% discount on all ES fabrics
Class structure and schedule: The main workshop is one full Saturday, with a shorter prep class ahead of time to review the pattern, confirm fabric selections and any pattern changes, and make sure you have everything you need ready to go.
There are two different workshop dates available in June. Choose your preferred Saturday. Both workshops will attend the same prep class. Recordings of the prep class (and full workshop) will be sent the following day in case you aren't able to join us or would like to rewatch.
The workshop is six hours long, and I will demonstrate live exactly how to do each step, providing lots of context, tips, and alternative options. You can follow along and work on your garment in real time, or just watch and ask questions during the class and work through the steps on your own time. You can ask questions any time–this is live so you can get help when you need it!
Prep Class Date:
- Tuesday, June 3, 6-8PM CT
Workshop Dates (you will choose ONE of these workshop dates to attend):
- Saturday, June 7, 10AM-4PM
- Saturday, June 14, 10AM-4PM
What will the workshop cover?
I will walk you through the pattern and it's construction step-by-step with lots of close-up video, so you can see exactly what I'm doing from start to finish. We will also cover sewing pattern basics like size selection, pattern prep, and cutting, alternative methods to most of techniques and finishes, and fitting adjustments. In our final class I will walk through a bunch of fun ways to turn this pattern into totally different styles.
What skill level is this workshop suitable for?
If you can operate a sewing machine, you can do this! This pattern is a great place to start for new sewists. But it's not only for beginners–we'll also learn the construction techniques we use in manufacturing our ready to wear garments and lots of ways to level up your finishes and details. This style can be as complex as you make it!
What tools and supplies will I need?
- Sewing machine capable of straight stitch and needle suited for your fabric
- Steam iron and ironing board
- Fabric scissors
- Several yards of woven fabric, depending on the view you plan to make (see the pattern details page for specific fabric requirements)
- Machine thread
- Optional: serger, sleeve board, pins
**Digital and full size printed versions of the pattern will be provided. If you need any help selecting materials, machine needles, thread, etc prior to the workshop, I will be glad to help. You'll hear from me in advance to make sure you're all set.
