Pattern Details
The Florence Pant is the easiest breeziest wide leg pant in the land! Use this classic, building-block pant as a jumping-off point for a variety of pant styles that will serve you well for years.
A dead simple wide leg silhouette with a high rise. The Florence has a slim waist that isn’t bulky around the midsection but also has ease and room to move comfortably, making these pants you’ll want to wear time and time again.
In a soft linen, these feel seasonless and relaxed. In a heavier canvas or wool, they are indestructible. Pair with a cashmere sweater and sneakers and wear for an entire weekend trip to the mountains, or wear them in the summer with a silk tank. Or, do what I do, and wear them all the time as very stylish pajamas that allow you to go from your couch to the real world without changing a thing.
Difficulty Level
Beginner difficulty. This pattern requires topstitching and the insertion of an elastic waistband. Choose from US Sizes XXS-4XL and three length options with varying rise and inseam measurements.
This pattern has 2 pattern pieces in total, and can be completed in about two and a half hours including cutting time.
Recommended Fabrics and Required Materials
Medium-weight fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton, hemp, in plainweaves or canvas will work well. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment.
You'll need:
-Fabric of your choice--see detailed fabric requirements here
-2” (5 cm) wide elastic cut to length for your waist
-All purpose polyester thread
-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)
-Needle
