Pattern Details

The Clyde Jumpsuit is a great all-purpose jumpsuit with large, crescent-shaped pockets spanning the side of the jumpsuit leg. Unique, three-panel design results in vertical seams along the center front and back of each leg in addition to the inseam, allowing for limitless fit adjustments and style changes. Use this classic, building-block jumpsuit as a jumping-off point for a variety of wardrobe staples that will serve you well for years.

Large pockets are the iconic feature of the Clyde. I created the side panel crescent pocket as a solution for bulky and crinkly pocket bags that are often a hallmark of inseam pockets. They are large enough to be truly functional and are just a hair wider than the side body panel for ease of use.

Medium-width shoulder straps and a scooped neckline make this jumpsuit perfectly suitable to wear on its own, or over a thin top or sweater like overalls.

In a soft linen, this jumpsuit feels seasonless and relaxed. In a heavier canvas or wool, it's indestructible.

Difficulty Level

Intermediate difficulty. Suitable for patient beginners. This pattern requires understitching, topstitching, and the insertion of bias bindings. Choose from US Sizes XXS-4XL and three length options with varying torso and inseam measurements.

This pattern has 14 pattern pieces in total, and can be completed in about four hours including cutting time.

Recommended Fabrics and Required Materials

Medium-weight fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton, hemp, in plainweaves or canvas will work well. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment. Ensure that whatever material you choose can hold up in the pocket area.

You'll need:
-Fabric of your choice--see detailed fabric requirements here
-All purpose polyester thread
-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)
-Needle

    Too large

It may be my fault, I printed a size large and it was very large and I need to take in which is a big job.

    Rétro…

It seems great . Not seen yet but this far easy to understand.

I did order two in error and wanted to know if you could reimburse one… two of the same pattern will not be of much use…

    Great pattern, terrific jumpsuit

I enjoyed sewing this jumpsuit and am very pleased with the results. Used a medium weight unbleached cotton twill (wrong side out) and it is smashing - cool, elegant, versatile. I did stumble early on in the construction and think the direction 2.a. on pg. 20 could be more clear by changing "repeat for the other side" to "repeat for the left font body piece". I was too eager I guess and "side" is an ambiguous word. I did decide to add a 4.5" invisible zipper at the back neckline which made a HUGE difference in getting in and out of the jumpsuit (I am 5'8" and not skinny, not curvy). Overall a fun thing to sew and I cannot wait to wear it.

    Jumpsuit Pattern

Like the pattern but have not copied it yet. Still trying to figure it out. Love the big sizes. May have to go to photocopy store. As a senior I bought McCalls, Style, Simplicity & Butterick patterns in the 60-70s so this is different. Now they are vintage. Still have some packed away. May take awhile since I am a knitter for charity so hope to get to the sewing table soon. Finding material is more of a challenge too. Really like the pattern though. If finish can send photo.

    It’s Okay

I fall between an XL for my chest and L for waist and hips. There was some overlap in measurement so I went with the XL tall (I’m 5’9”/175 cm). This is enormous. I took it in 4 inches in the front and back and it is still is so large it’s unattractive. The crotch hangs down a good 4 inches longer than needed - even allowing for extra ease for sitting. I could go down 2 sizes probably. Which could solve some other issues I have with the shape of the belly and legs using a different block .
